Funeral service for Mary Ellen Frances (Knight) Herron, 89, of Shawnee, will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 16, 2014, at Johnson Church of God, with Pastor Joseph DiPaolo, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Herron passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Shawnee.

Mary Ellen Herron was born June 25, 1924, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Hope and Sadie (Hause) Knight. She married Coy Wesley “Doc” Herron on August 7, 1939, in Shawnee, OK. They were married for 61 years. She resided all of her life in Shawnee, OK. She worked at Round House Garment Factory and Harp’s Green Valley Farms for many years. She was a member of Johnson Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sisters: Ruby Thomason and Lela Goodnight.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: W.C. and Phyllis Herron of Shawnee, Dickie and Dorothy Herron of Shawnee and Doyle Herron of Shawnee; one daughter: Glenda Sue Herron of Shawnee; Five grandsons: Bryan & Sandra Herron of Shawnee, Druman Herron, John Smith of Oklahoma City, Eddie & Stacey Herron of Shawnee, Joey Herron of Tecumseh, Chris & Amber Ortega of Stonewall; four granddaughters: Dondi Poole of Meeker, Jami & Junior Nail of Shawnee, Alicia Crawford of Shawnee and Tammy of Shawnee; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; one brother: Harvey Knight of Sherman, TX; one sister: Mertie Herron of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Church of God Shelter Fund, 46209 Garretts Lake Road, Shawnee, OK.
