Nina Lee Self

A long time Shawnee resident, Nina Lee Self, died March 7, 2011 at Sunset Estate Nursing Home. Nina was born Dec. 11th, 1920 in Whitesboro, Texas, the daughter of John and Harriet Ann Riddle. After graduating from Shawnee High School in 1939, she entered other courses to further her education in business and secretarial skills. During her 50 year tenure of employment in Shawnee, she worked for several law firms as an Executive Secretary for many years. Another company whom she enjoyed working for was Jonco Aircraft in “industrial relations.” She greatly enjoyed her friendships in the B.P.W. She was their president one year and was presented the “Woman of the Year” medal. Nina was married to Lee Roy Self in 1943. He preceded her in death, as did her father, mother, two sisters, Lorine Fagan and Arline Belcher, three brothers, John Jr Riddle, Calvin J. and Robert Wayne Riddle. She is survived by two siblings, one brother, Ben Riddle, and one sister, Fannie Gibson. Nina was loved by all and will be missed by many. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 8a.m. until 8p.m. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park at 12p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011.
