

Roosevelt Wilson Davis Sr was born June 24, 1926 in Seminole Indian territory, in Oklahoma, and the fifth of seven children. Roosevelt attended schools in Lima and Shawnee, Oklahoma. Roosevelt accepted Christ in his early life and later in adult life after his illness, at the New Life Church of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Roosevelt met LaRuth Collins and married her April 22, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and to this union 11 children were born. Roosevelt loved gardening of flowers, trees, and various plants which were transported into his yard in Lima, OK. Roosevelt worked for the City of Shawnee in the Sanitation Dept., Barton’s Value and Oil Pipe Co., Van’s Pig Stand, The Aldridge Hotel, Ben’s Barbeque, The First Church of God and was a companion and chauffeur for Mr. Norman Smith of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Roosevelt loved helping the elders with travels and errands. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Davis Sr; parents, Billy and Silby Davis; granddaughter, Mary M. Davis; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers, Tony, Riley, Marshall, and Manuel Davis Sr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his loving wife, LaRuth Collins Davis; 10 children, 7 daughters- Rose Davis-Henderson of Erie, PA, Sylvia (Troy) Price, Lillie (Elwood) Black of Oklahoma City, OK, Tina Davis of Edmond, OK, Verna Nell (James Sr) Richardson of Muskogee, OK, Maxine Davis, Jo Ann (Rick) Sanders of Shawnee, OK; 3 sons- Tommy Davis, Norman Davis and Roosevelt Davis Jr of Shawnee, OK; 31 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends as loved ones. Roosevelt’s viewing will be from 12:00 to 8:00pm, Friday, May 20th 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home. His funeral service will be 10:00am, Saturday, May 21st 2011 at Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee, OK under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
