Charles Head

Mr. Charles Head, 80, of Okolona, returned to his Heavenly Father on May 19, 2017. Mr. Head was born on August 8, 1936 in Havey, IL. He retired from a 30 year career of over the road trucking. He drove for Peytons Inc and Martin Brower, delivering for McDonalds. During his career he received a 10 and 15 year award for safe driving. Mr. Head loved to take cruises with his wife of 61 years. They cruised to Hawaii, Barbados, Europe, Alaska, Mexico, and many other places.

Among those that preceded him in death include his sons, M. Charles Head Jr., Richard Lee Head; parents, Helen and Grover Head Sr.; mother-in-law, May Hensley; and brother-in-law, Sonny Hensley.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bernice Martha Louise Head; son, Charles Edwin (Sharon); daughters, Elizabeth Ann Wagner, Rebecca May Kruse (Todd), Tammy Head; grandchildren, Jonathan Glover (Seonhee), Charles Head (Nicole), Ashley Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Hannah Thompson, Alexander Thompson (Natalie), Katherine Wagner (Bosko), Stacy Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Rebecca Wagner, Miranda Thompson, Katelyn Head, Mariah Kruse, James Kruse(Briana); seven great-grandchildren; brother, Grover R. Head Jr. (Sue);sister-in-law, Marie Dotson (Bud); sister-in-law, Nova Hensley; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:00am in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood, & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm.
