David Edward Nichols, Jr

Bishop David Edward Nichols, Jr., age 58, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 11, 2022. He was born on September 12, 1964 in Louisville, Kentucky. David ministered within the Church of God of Prophecy for 37 years most recently as Senior Pastor at Church Alive for the last 16 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, David Edward Nichols Sr. and Juanita Wilson Nichols; maternal grandparents, Howard and Ruth Wilson; and paternal grandparents, Roy and Merline Nichols.

Bishop Nichols was a Regional Overseer in the MidAmerica Region for 3 years. He was a graduate of University of Kentucky where he earned his bachelor’s degree in education. David was a financial analyst with ProBank Austin, and he also held many ministerial positions within the Church of God of Prophecy organization. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing golf. He had a great love for music and was a talented musician and singer who loved playing his trumpet. David never met a stranger. He was a generous, kind-hearted and compassionate man. Everyone he met was his best friend. He loved and treated everyone in a way that made you feel important. His greatest joy was being a Papaw to Baylee and Lincoln.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 39 years, Lagonda Webb Nichols; daughter, Erica Nichols Sharlow (Jeremy); granddaughter, Baylee Skye Sharlow; grandson, Lincoln Wilson Sharlow; sisters, Tammy Nichols Carter (Todd) and Janita Nichols Willingham (Chris); nephews, Jager Carter, Cade and Luke David Willingham; and second parents, Poppy and Weezie Webb.

Celebration service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Church Alive (9508 Blue Lick Road Okolona, KY 40229) with private burial at a later date. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church and again on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
