Dianne Marie Bates

Dianne Marie Bates, age 81, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was born on October 2, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late John H. and Angela M. (Passanisi) Linker. Dianne was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Fairdale, Kentucky. She was a strong, determined woman whose Italian heritage could bring out her stubborn side. She loved being around water, lounging by the pool and especially loved the beach. Dianne spent her spare time working on crafts and her family fondly remembers her “Diamond Art”. She also loved her gardens, both flowers and vegetables, but her true passion was her family; spending time with her children and grandchildren was what Dianne held most dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald L. “Jerry” Linker.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Laura Dunagan-Scherzinger, Jackie Stotts (Dave), Ed Dunagan, Jr. (Erin) and Angie Dunagan; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her fur-baby, Oreo, and a host of family and friends. The family would like to thank Jr. Bates who honored Dianne’s wishes and spent countless days and hours comforting and supporting her during her final days.

Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 12:00 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with entombment in Hebron Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 1:00 until 8:00 and on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 9:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
