Geraldine "Gerry" Stewart

Geraldine “Gerry” Stewart, age 85 of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 16, 2025. She was born on March 8, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Oscar and Wilma (Murray) Miller. Gerry was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She did volunteer work to help anyone who needed help by sending much needed items to Eastern Kentucky, travelling on missionary trips, even visiting Jerusalem. Gerry was a giving woman who always put the needs of others before her own. If a friend needed something and Gerry didn’t have it, she would find it. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pat Short and her brother, William “Bill” McCain.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Michael Short (Dawn); daughter, Macey Stewart (Jason Melcher); grandchildren, Courtney, Timothy, Hillary, Jessie, Anthony, Michelle, Jailyn, Gaige and Zack; great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Lizzy, Mya, Hunter, Aurora, Amari, Soren, Felix, Salem and Danny as well as a host of other family and friends.

Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) in charge of arrangements where the family will honor Gerry’s wishes of cremation.
