James Riley Carpenter, Sr.

Mr. James Riley Carpenter, Sr., age 74, of Shepherdsville returned to his Heavenly Father on October 20, 2021. Mr. Carpenter was born on August 15, 1947, in Summner, Mississippi to the late Travis and Irene (Flemmons) Carpenter. He retired from Ford Motor Company and was a U.S. Army veteran. Among those that preceded him in death are his parents, brother, Buddy Carpenter; and his first wife, Rita Kay (Nelson) Carpenter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 12 years, Susan (Payne) Carpenter; children, Michelle Smith and James Carpenter, Jr. (Shannon); grandchildren, Cindy, Alex, Aaron, Cody, Travis, Arianna, and Brayden; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Bentley, Winni, Melanie, Lakeann, and Jaxson; stepchildren, Connie Tyler, Robert Middleton, Sarah Carter; step-grandchildren, Stephen Tyler and Rachael Sigsby; step-great grandchildren, Lucas, Eli and Han; and sisters, Geneva Meek, Shirley Neil, and Earlene Ford.

Funeral service will be conducted at noon on Saturday, October 30, 2021, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Brookland Cemetery.
