Mr. James Courtney Wehrley Jr., 80, of Louisville, died peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017 after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. A lifelong member of Duck's Unlimited, a member of the IBEW local 369, and a shining example of how to live life to the fullest, Jim, or "Pop" as he was called by his family, fought cancer with the same resilience that he lived his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Wehrley Cundiff; father, James Wehrley Sr. and youngest daughter, Kristy Holmes.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marianna Wehrley; daughters, Kim Luckett (Richard) and Kelly Rogers (Dennis); son-in-law, Dennis Holmes; sisters, Betty Allgeier (Gilbert) and Karol Sue Hopper; grandchildren, Kristina Rogers, Trey Moore (Kristi), Jessica Raque (Greg), Jacob Moore (Karli), Chris Luckett, Katherine Luckett and Alex Wehrley; seven great grandchildren, Lexi, Tristan, Thomas, Henry, Harrison, Haley and JD. While we will miss Pop's hunting and fishing stories, his ability to never be wrong, and his stubborn nature, we will miss his unending love, support, and guidance the most.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society and the Arthritis Foundation. www.subfuneralhome.com
