Laura Lee Light, age 79, of Crestwood, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 30, 2026, with loving family by her side. She was born on September 18, 1946, in Bullitt County, Kentucky to the late Gordon and Mary (Mudd) Lewellen. Laura was a “Friend of Bill” and was a beloved member of The Token Club and Pigeon Roost. Laura loved people and she knew no strangers. People were drawn to her as she greeted everyone she met with a hug and made each of them feel special. In Laura’s own words, it was never “goodbye” – just “so long”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Light; grandparents, Gleno Daigh and James Robert Mudd and her brother, David Lewellen.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Veeneman; son, Joseph Veeneman (Joyce); stepsons, Troy Light (Gisela), James Light (Carol Jo) and Tony Vance (Pam); grandchildren, Gabrielle Nethery (Jordan), Quentin Veeneman, Zachary Peters and Lexi Veeneman; brother, Ronald Barry Mudd (Susan); sisters, Sandra Mudd and Debbie Davis (Jack) along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow.
