For thirty years, Philip worked at Louisville Gas and Electric in Special Construction as a crane operator. He took great pride in his work. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Philip served his country honorably during the Korean War, earning the rank of sergeant and receiving the Bronze Star Medal for his courageous and faithful service.
Outside of work, Philip found his greatest joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved spending time on the water fishing alongside his beloved wife, Mary Lois, at Guntersville Lake. His faith was the foundation of his life; he was a devoted and longtime member of Brooks Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons, Nathan Bryant and Dennis Alvey; his grandsons, Jason Alvey (Jenny), Shayne Alvey (Shelly), Joshua Alvey (Shaina), Butch Miller, Chris Miller, and Tony Miller; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Ella, Bice, Colton, Lola, Silas, Eva, Nora, Adalyn, Dylan, Mollie, and Payton, Nicholas, Baily, Jordan, Bentley, Brayden.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lois; his son, Michael Alvey; his grandsons, Dennis Alvey, and Michael Atkinson; and his brothers and sisters, Nathan, William, Louise, Sylvia, James Moman, and Raymond.
