Robert Godfrey "Rabbit" Payne

Robert “Robby” Godfrey Payne, affectionately known as “Rabbit,” passed into eternity on August 1, 2025, at the age of 62 in Mount Washington, Kentucky. He was born on July 16, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Margaret Lynn Linde (née Adamson). Robby was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Payne; stepfather, William Linde; sister, Dana Stinnett; brother, Larry Linde; grandmother, Blanche Wieland; and grandfather, Frank Wieland. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Lynn Linde; his siblings: Kimberly Adkins (Tim), Todd Payne (René), Troy Linde, Sonya Linde (Kenny), Heather Deichler, Danny Linde (Rita), and Doris Stillman (Kurt); his brother-in-law, Mark Stinnett; and his aunt and devoted caretaker, Nancy Ford. Robby had a lifelong love for animals and the outdoors. For many years, he worked as a hot walker at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, especially during gatherings at the Adamson family farm. Robby will be remembered for his kind heart, and the love he shared with those closest to him. 

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (Hwy. 44 east at 123 Winning Colors Dr.) with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery (2421 Hamburg Pike, Jeffersonville, IN 47130). Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, from 11:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.
