Ronald "Ron" George Hawkins

Ronald “Ron” George Hawkins, age 78, of Brooks, Ky passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, with his family by his side. Ron was born in Louisville, Kentucky on October 25, 1946, to the late Alvin Hawkins and Gladys (Hunchman) Hawkins. He retired from General Electric after 30 plus years of service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papaw. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with his Friday night friends, where he always had a good joke and a smile. Ron enjoyed RVing with his wife Joan, a good game of golf, from time to time. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Cliff Richardson.  

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joan Hawkins, daughters Shelly Warren (Steve), Susie Richardson, son Ronnie Hawkins, 6 grandchildren Justin (Kristen), Katie (Phillip), Sean (Skye), Tyler (Haley), Cameron, Violet, 7 great-grandchildren Emma, Mason, Easton, Bristol, Waylon, June, Nova, brother Steve Hawkins (Ann). Along with a host of other dear family and friends.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Cremation to Follow.
