Russell A. Ballard

Mr. Russell A. Ballard, age 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on February 2, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born to the Carlyle Ballard and Joyce (Proctor) Ballard, on November 16, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky. Russell was an Engineer for several different companies over the years, he loved fishing, hunting, metal detecting, bird watching, and drinking a great cup of coffee all through the day. He was a diehard University of Kentucky fan, he liked his trips to Florida, putting his toes in the sand and enjoying the waves. Russell was a great jokester, and he liked spending time outside enjoying nature. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, and Gampy. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father Carlyle Ballard, brother Richard Ballard, Sr., and niece Christy Carroll.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 20 years Kristi Ballard, children Aubrey Toler (Tyler), Chris Troyer (Katie), Madi Hall (Wyatt), Haille Ballard (Cassidy), three grandchildren Eleanor and Oliver Toler, Lottie Troyer, his mother Joyce Ballard, brothers Raymond Ballard (Angela), Ron Ballard (Sandy), and sister-in-law Brenda Ballard, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway at John Harper Freeway) from 2 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Cremation was chosen. In Lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the Alzheimer’s Association for research.
