

Samuel “Sam” Jackson Jr., age 92 of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, March 16, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1933, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky to the late Lula (Drake) and Samuel Jackson, Sr. Sam was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was a born-again Christian member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Sam retired from LG&E after 37 years of faithful service. He preached in over 264 churches in Kentucky and was involved with The Temperance League of Kentucky. Sam was saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and loved the Lord with all his heart. He wanted the world to know that Jesus saves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Bonnie Jackson and Janet Franklin and his siblings, Dorothy Dishon, Stanley Jackson and Annabelle Weird.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 69 years, Jerrie (Bishop) Jackson; children, Sherrie Martin (John), Robin Jackson, Donna Jackson and Stacy Calvert (Jeff); grandchildren, Brandon Cain, Patrick Martin (Ashley), Jennifer Franklin, Jackie Thoms (Aaron), Samantha Franklin, Tod Mertz, Kristin Timberlake, Blake Calvert and Cameron Calvert (Ally); 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Goldie Lanham and a host of other family and friends.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Brooks Rd. at Preston Hwy.) and on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Brookland Cemetery
