Sgt. John Thomas Vickers, Jr.

Sgt. John Thomas Vickers, Jr., age 62, of Okolona returned to his Heavenly Father on June 7, 2024. Sgt. Vickers was born on June 2, 1962, in Louisville, KY to the late John Thomas, Sr. and Marie Cox Vickers. He was a firefighter with Okolona Fire Protection District and Zoneton Fire Protection District. He was a deputy sheriff with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and worked at Fire and Specialty Equipment Company. He was a member of Okolona Christian Church and the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 35 years, Kimberly Scott Vickers; children, John C. Vickers, Kayla Vickers Powell (Vincent), and Jake R. Vickers; granddaughter, Hadley Blake Powell; and a host of family and friends. 

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Okolona Christian Church (10801 Faithful Way Louisville, KY 40229) with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 2-8 pm and Wednesday from 2-8 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road). www.subfuneralhome.com
