Virginia "Sugie" Arnold

Mrs. Virginia “Sugie” Arnold, age 83, of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Sugie was born in Louisville, KY on April 3, 1935 to the late LaRoy and Rose Gentry. Sugie was a happy devoted homemaker.  She loved her family and was known to be a loving mother and grandmother.  She was a strong woman of Christian faith who never met a stranger and took everyone in.  She was a big UK fan and loved Churchill Downs and horse racing. Sugie was an amazing cook and was known for making the best spaghetti sauce ever.  She also loved working in her yard, she had beautiful landscaping, especially her roses. Sugie was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Among those who preceded her in death include, her husband, Gilbert Anthony Arnold Sr.; her daughter Linda Marie Arnold; and her 2 brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her 3 children, Debra Beatty (Nathan), Gilbert Anthony Arnold Jr. (Nilia), and Michelle Hikes (George); 1 Godson, Terry Briney; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Maskalick (Shawn), Brandon Beatty (Stephanie), Kristina Dicken (Steven), Melissa Beatty (Josiah), Casey Brown (Rob), Ashlee Hikes (Phillip), Taylor Derringer (Shane); 9 great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 11501 Maple Way, Louisville, Ky., with burial at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd).
