

Bruce Fielding Morriss, 54, of Lithonia, Georgia and Miramar Beach, Florida, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at home following a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shelley Morriss, three children Samantha Allyson Morriss, Hannah Grace Carmichael and William Reeves Carmichael.
Bruce was born March 6, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Fielding Morriss and Eva Stepp Morriss. He graduated from Hunt High School in Wilson, North Carolina in 1982. Bruce’s college education included two years at Emory and Henry College with graduation from The University of North Carolina (Charlotte). He attended Mercer University Law School in Macon, Georgia. Bruce obtained his Juris Doctor in 1990 and was licensed in both Georgia and the District of Columbia.
Bruce attended Emory Aviation Flight School in Colorado and held a commercial pilot’s license. He was a proud member of Destiny Worship Center (Florida) and The Cross in Loganville, Georgia.
In addition to his wife and children, Bruce is survived by his parents, a sister Elizabeth Robina Srinivasan of West Chester, Pennsylvania and her husband Srini, two nephews, Christopher and David Srinivasan, many cousins and extended family in Virginia and Kentucky.
Bruce will be remembered for his deep Christian faith, legal acumen, boundless generosity, a willingness to help others, good humor, and his devotion to family and friends. While law, outdoor sportsmanship and flying may have been Bruce’s passions, it was his family who gave him his greatest joy.
The family will receive visitors and friends at Eternal Hills Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, July 2 and from 12 pm to 1:45 pm on Tuesday, July 3 at The Cross Loganville, a funeral service will follow at 2 pm.
