We loved knowing Mr. Hayes. We especially loved hearing and seeing him get so happy when rubbing his back and saying "Hello, Mr. Hayes. We know your daughter Kay." It was wonderful meeting the extended family at the visitation. We pray you all continue to heal from his loss and always know you are loved.

Two things that will always stand out in my mind is Charlie's smile / laugh and his sense of humor. His smile could light up a room.
Charlie may leave us all behind, but the memories will always be with us.
My heart goes out to you all. May Charlie rest in peace now.

Dad, thank you for a lifetime of never ending love and support! You were a selfless individual always giving so much of yourself to family, friends, and church. You have touched so many lives in your 82 years and left a lasting impression on people around the world. I remember all the days you’d come home from a long day at work, pull up in the drive, and begin shooting baskets with me or throwing the ball with Joe and Lisa. Even if you were tired you didn’t hesitate to jump in and spend time with us kids.
Oh what basketball memories I have with you. I could always hear your voice in the middle of a big game even with the crowd at their loudest. I listened for it because it gave me confidence and strength. What fun we had in the back of that old truck with the camper top coming home from basketball camp. I guarantee you those stories are told fondly by all of my teammates to this day!
Thank you for being a wonderful Papaw. You were always game to do whatever the grandkids wanted regardless of how silly just to make them happy. I remember you dancing with Stephanie and helping Greg learn to ride a bike!! You were always there for them with a word of encouragement or a piece of advice as they grew helping to shape the outstanding adults they are today.
My greatest sadness is that you were unable to spend time with your great granddaughter, Emma. What a sweetheart and so smart-you would be amazed. I know when we brought her to visit it gave you such happiness. She saw pictures of you laughing tonight and started laughing with you. We will show her pictures and tell her stories of the wonderful man that she never got to know.
Dad, you were the greatest! I miss your laughter and your sparking blue eyes. I know you are in a better place today having a Hayes family reunion. We will see each other again!! Until then, remember that we love you very much!

Aunt Erna, Katie, Joe and Lisa. You and your families are all in our prayers. Uncle Charlie will be greatly missed by all of us. This photo was taken in the Summer of 2013 at my dad's house. I don't know if you have it, so I though I would share. This was a great visit for me and Daddy with his brothers and sister. We shared many memories that day. It was so good to see how they interacted with each other and talked about the old days. It seems like it was yesterday.

I met Mr. Hayes for the first time when Lisa and her parents came to my birthday party five years ago. We happened to have chicken wings on the buffet and Mr. Hayes expressed his love for those wings so much so that I sent him home with all of the leftovers. Years later, when I accompanied Lisa to visit Mr. Hayes for his birthday, I remembered to take him some wings and although he wasn't able to verbalize his appreciation, he ate with gusto and I knew he enjoyed them greatly.
My heart hurts for you, Lisa, and your family; but also dances with the knowledge that you will see Charlie again.
Love, hugs, tears, and prayers my friend!
