Clare Ilene Henry

The Allen Hospital in Manhattan, after a long battle with multiple myeloma. Clare was born

in Blackstonedge, St. Ann, Jamaica. She was the first of 6 children born to Inez Henry and

the late Jasper Henry. She was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Grace Jones from

Lithonia, GA.

At the age of 19, Clare migrated to London, England where she received her training, and worked as a Registered Nurse. After 10 years in England she moved to New York where she continued her nursing career, working most recently for many years at Manhattan Psychiatric Hospital, until her retirement. Clare loved to travel and was an avid golfer. She was a member of Westchester Executive Women’s Golf Association, and several golf clubs including Lady Drivers Golf, Mosholu Ladies Golf, Mohansic Golf, Wahkill Golf in Westchester County, New York. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. Left to mourn her passing are her mother, Inez Henry; her sisters, Carole Henry, Jennifer Hines, Sonia Henry, Hope (Chester) Morgan, Geneva Johnson; her brother, Barrington (Shaun) Henry; her nieces, Danielle Chapple, Onyx Henry, Christine Hines, Kimberly Morgan; her nephews, Gary (Pia) Hepburn, Craig Edwards, Kevin (Kenda) Chambers, Courtney (Neisha) Edwards, Jonathan Henry, Yushaine (Kamille) Morgan, Fabian Morgan; cousins, her grand-nieces and grandnephews, members of her extended family here in the United States, Jamaica, England, and Canada.

The funeral service for Clare will be held at 11:00 am., on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 1520 Oak Road, Snellville, Ga with the Rev. Elizabeth Hendrix officiating. Viewing will be 10:00 am., prior to the funeral service.

Interment will follow the service at Eternal Hill Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA
