

following complications from a stroke. The last of thirteen children, she married Henry
Albrecht in 1941 and had four children of her own. She and Henry ran The Candy Kettle,
a store selling their own candies next door to the downtown Rich's store, for 25 years.
After they closed the store they moved to North Palm Beach, Florida where they lived for
35 years.
Doris was a woman of many lives. She was a beautician, a sales clerk, a homemaker, a
superb chocolate confectioner, and, late in life, a trained nurse's aide. She was feisty,
sharp, outspoken, and endlessly energetic. At 88 was still climbing into apple trees,
canning her own beans and tomatoes, and pouring herself into her church.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her son, Jimmy; and her daughter
Phyllis. She is survived by daughter Dorothy Lee and son Robert, and grandchildren
Dana Gentry (Dave), Brynne Taylor (Kris), Amy Berry (Richard), and Ben Albrecht;
great-grandchildren Brandy, Sarah, Ashley, and Savannah; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
