

Edward was born on March 25, 1941 in Cap-Haitian, Haiti to Mario Blot and Philomene Valmir. He received the Diploma of Doctor in Medicine from the Faculté de Medecine et de Pharmacie at the Université d'Etat d'Haïti in 1969 and completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Harlem Hospital in Harlem, New York in 1979. He continued to practice Medicine for a total of 31 years spanning regions covering Haiti, New York, and New Jersey. Due to his poor health, he was forced to retire in 2000.
On December 21, 1972, he married Marie Josette Jean-Pierre. They raised two children and were happily married for 48 years. Edward was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family.
Edward was also a devout Christian and was a practicing Seventh-Day Adventist. Through his ministry he was able to reach countless lives and be a positive influence in his community – through his private practice, as well as the various places he chose to work. He received recognition from the Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. for providing outstanding healthcare services to the residents of homeless shelters. He also worked in several nursing homes providing in-patient services. He was an elder in his church and led countless bible studies. Despite his health challenges, he still witnessed to countless people and left a lasting impression with all who crossed his path.
He loved to discuss politics, religion, and loved to play dominoes. Those that played against him soon discovered that his demeanor did not disclose his mastery of the game. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Edward is survived by his wife Marie Josette, his two children, Alain and Edline, his grandchildren, Ava and Aidan, his sisters, Gladys, Mimose, Edwdge, Mona, Guilene, Maryse, Fleurette, and brother, Henry Robert. He was also survived by several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
