May 3, 1945 – July 19, 2025
Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Klein passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Born on May 3, 1945, Betty dedicated her life to nurturing young minds, beginning her teaching career in Ohio and concluding it with Gwinnett County Public Schools in Georgia. Her passion for children and education touched countless lives over the years.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband George, with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage filled with joy, adventure, and deep companionship. She also leaves behind her daughters, Amy (Jeff) and Megan (Jason), brother, Fred, and her cherished grandson Sam, the light of her life.
Betty was known for her generous spirit and her knack for gift-giving. Her legendary gift closet was always brimming with thoughtful treasures she collected throughout the year for those she loved. If you knew Betty, you loved her—and more importantly, she loved you. Fiercely, deeply, and often with a surprising intensity that belied her petite stature.
In retirement, Betty found joy in volunteering several times a week at Sam’s school, much to the delight of his teachers. When her girls were younger, she treasured beach trips with her family, spending hours shell-hunting and enjoying family game nights on the balcony. One of her favorite traditions was the annual New Year’s Eve outing with their best friends—a celebration she eagerly anticipated each year.
A lifelong lover of music, Betty’s tastes ranged from the timeless charm of oldies—especially her girlhood crush, Johnny Mathis—to the soulful rhythms of the Blues, which she discovered later in life. She and George traveled the country attending Blues festivals, embracing the music, and the friends and memories they made together.
Her warm heart, radiant spirit, and mischievous sense of humor made her truly unforgettable. Betty loved her family above all, and they were blessed beyond measure to have her.
She was, quite simply, the most amazing lady.
