Obituary
On Monday, August 21, 2023, Frances Louise Nash, affectionally known as “Mother Dear,” transitioned from this temporary life to eternity at the age of 102. She was born on March 21, 1921 in Tallahassee, Florida to Alfred and Cindora Jordan. She attended the University of Tampa where she studied education.
She married Freddie Shaw, who preceded her in death in 1942. To this union, one beautiful daughter, Vianna Anita Shaw, was born. In 1952, she married Jesse "Sarge" L. Nash of Miami, Florida, who also preceded her in death in 1992. To this union, one son, Carroll Alan Nash, was born.
Frances became a member of Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church on October 8, 1995 under the leadership of Reverend C.P. Preston, Jr. She was a faithful and active member in ministries such as Home Mission Society, Sunday School Superintendent, Deaconess, and Pastor's Aide Board.
She was an Occupational Specialist for the Miami Dade County Public School System for 35 years before retiring in 1989. She helped countless young people during her tenure.
Frances cared deeply about being there for her family and friends. She was a lady of class and elegance, as seen in her appearance, and always had a dog for a faithful companion. She was always found doing unto others and she desired them do unto her. This was her life’s philosophy.
