Jay Corwin Williams

Jay Corwin Williams, 76, of Snellville, GA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 26, 2024. He was born on April 18, 1948, at Buffalo Children's Hospital in Buffalo, NY.

Raised in Elmira, NY, Jay earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Pre-Law from the University of Albany, NY, and a Master of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Birmingham School of Management.

A dedicated professional, Jay worked as a Social Security Administrator for the U.S. Federal Government for 43 years. He earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues, who celebrated his retirement in 2013.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda Paonessa Williams; his two sons, Garrett and Derek Williams; his devoted sister, Janice Williams of Elmira, NY; his loving brother, John Williams of Wilmington, NC; his caring sister-in-law, Sandra Spencer of Sanibel Island, FL; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jay will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family, his kind and thoughtful nature, and the positive impact he had on those who knew him.

Jay was an avid reader who enjoyed watching movies and sports with his sons and friends, gardening with his wife, wine tasting, weightlifting, tennis, solitaire, riding motorcycles, and the companionship of six German Shepherds over his lifetime.

He was honored with the status of Scottish Lordship and was part owner of the Green Bay Packers. He was deeply involved in his sons' sporting events and practices, often assistant coaching and helping them train at home. A math wiz, his knowledge and wisdom were sought by many neighbors and friends. Jay was especially known for his quick-witted personality, which everyone loved. His presence will be greatly missed.

There will be no calling hours or funeral. The family will hold a celebration of Life in April, around his 77th birthday on the 18th.
