

Jerry Blaine Gowens of Loganville passed from this life on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the age of 81. He was born in Rome, Georgia to Wallace Moses and Madeline Baldwin Gowens. After his father passed away, he was blessed when his mom married James Robert Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Scott Gowens, and his brothers Wallace Don Gowens and James A. Morris.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgia Skelly Gowens. Additionally he is survived by his son Barry W. Gowens and his wife Jan and Daughter-In-Law, Patti D. Gowens. He was Granddaddy to Wayne Gowens and his wife Irene, Jamie Gowens and his wife Bekki, Wendy Spivey and her husband Mike, and Kellie Gowens. He was Great Granddaddy to Cora, Jacob, Lily, Caleb, Cara, Brandt and Sophie. He is also survived by his sister Deborah Griffin of Lexington, SC as well as a beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews. Jerry graduated from West Fulton High School in 1951. He worked at Southern Railroad and retired from Kliklok Woodman Company. He was one of the founding members of Snellville Christian Church where he served in years past as an Elder as well making a joyful noise in the choir. After his retirement, he became quite the craftsman with many pieces of his furniture still gracing many homes. Services were held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Eternal Hills Funeral Home with interment in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Jacob Gowens, Guy Gowens, Rob Gowens, Wayne Gowens, Kiernan Dowell and Danny Jones.
