Marie Antoinette Davis

Marie Antionette Davis was born on March 20, 1942, in Sandersville, Georgia. Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gussie Davis who preceded her in death. On January 14, 2025, her life journey on earth ended to begin a new life in heaven.

At an early age Marie was baptized and became a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Marie attended T.J. Elder High School. Marie moved to Queens, New York at the age of 17 years old, after having her first son Tyrus Davis. She met her partner, the late Henry Russell Holland and had three more children, Rodney, Jacqueline, and Hope Holland.

Marie worked in different industries and was known for her strong work ethic. She was an active member at Merrick Park Baptist Church. In 1983 Marie became a Correction Officer for the State of New York. As she battled a health issue, Marie retired from the New York State Department of Corrections after 23 years in July 2006.

In late 2006, Marie and Russell moved to McDonough, Georgia and joined Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Marie was a resolute and committed Christian servant. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie had five siblings who proceeded her in death: Mary Hough, Arnita Swint, Lillian Davis, Thomas Davis Jr. and Ike Davis. Her partner of over 40 years, Henry Holland, daughter-in-law, Inga Davis, and grand-daughter Faith Burns proceeded her in death as well.

Marie is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Tyrus Davis, Mainz, Germany, Rodney Holland, Jamaica, NY, Jacqueline Holland, Douglasville, Ga, Hope (Allen) Burns, Loganville, Ga; six grandchildren, Tatianna Dover, Kristofer Dixon, Messiah Bethea, Jermaine James, Kamare Randall, Kimora Randall; two great-grandchildren, Mikala Dover, Makia Dover; one sister Jacqueline Browning, Decatur, Ga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We will always cherish the loving memories of Mom aka Grandma/Granny and shall miss her dearly.

A visitation for Marie will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3700 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039.
