Mary Ethel English DeBardeleben was born July 12, 1945 in Miami, Florida. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from Robert E Lee High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Florida State University in 1966. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful servant to Christ, always glorifying Him in the midst of her hardships. For over four decades, she combated multiple sclerosis (MS) and, despite this trial, she continued to witness to the Lords' grace, love, and mercy. Though much of her identity was consumed by the MS, no one ever doubted her character, kindness and love. She was known as a prayer warrior and was always ready to listen to people in their deepest times of need. She and her husband shared a deep love and friendship and were always ready to tackle the next obstacle, which included achieving the goal of visiting every state capital in the US and being present at almost every event of their children and grandchildren. She loved children and her family, especially her grandchildren. She was looking forward to meeting her first great-granddaughter, due to arrive May 2022.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Madison English, Jr. and Julia Estelle Coker English.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William D. (Bill) DeBardeleben, Jr.; son, Michael C. Weaver (Connie); daughter, Jennifer D. Southern; step-daughter, Alsie Jane Heil; grandchildren, Daniel Weaver, Caleb and Emily Southern, Julia Southern, and Josiah Southern; and Forthcoming great-granddaughter, Sophia Caroline Southern.
