Philip Josef Gabilondo age 23 of Lilburn passed away April 10, 2011. He was a recruit in the U. S. Marines and a beloved son, brother, grandson and nephew. He is survived by his parents, John and Patricia Gabilondo; brothers, Nicholas and Eric Gabilondo; maternal grandparents, Dr. Dewey and Helga Browder of Clarksville, TN, paternal grandparents, Milton and Daphne Chatelain of Baton Rouge, LA; and a number of other family members around the world. His light burned twice as bright but only half as long. He was an avid military history buff and was committed to becoming one of the few and the proud and serving his country. The happiest days of his life were spent in boot camp at Perris Island. He loved his music, movies about strong heroes rescuing the weak, playing chess and keeping himself physically fit. With Philip's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him everyday, especially his conviction to living his dream, he will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org in his name. Tributes may be placed at www.eternalhillsfuneralhome.com in Philip's memory. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Eternal Hills Chapel with Deacon Paul L. Doppel officiating. Inurnment, Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at Eternal Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Snellville, 770-972-3155.
