

Richard W. Sheehan, husband of the late Dorothy C. Sheehan of Americus, GA and the son of the late Richard W. Sheehan of Boston, MA and the late Catherine A. Sheehan of Quincy, MA passed away November 23, 2017 in Pensacola, FL. Richard was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army Transport Service; he returned home from overseas after WWII and received his final discharge from the U.S Army Transport Service as a First Officer the end of October 1945. Richard worked at various civilian jobs and finally joined the United States Marine Corps and was a Marine Corps veteran of Korea and Vietnam and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat V for actions taken in Vietnam during the war. He retired from the Marine Corps on 30 September, 1969 and in October, 1969, he went to work for Diebold, Inc. in Canton, OH, and retired from Diebold as Regional
Manager of their Customer Service Dept. in Atlanta, GA. Richard was a member of The Marine Corps Association, The Marine Corps League, Moose Lodge 557, Pensacola, and a Life member of the Nation Museum of Naval Aviation at NAS, Pensacola where he served as a Volunteer Tour Guide for 12 years. During his Marine Corps career he served as Commander of the Marine Security Guard Detachments at our embassies in Vienna, Austria, Moscow, Russia and Berne, Switzerland. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 at 11 am in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville; visitation will be 1 hour prior in Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
