

Miss Ruth Louise Cornelius, 95, died on Friday, July 4, 2014, in Loganville, GA. She lived in Fair Haven Retirement Center from 1996 until 2011. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and taught in the Barber Sunday School Class alternating with other teachers from 1965 until January 2000. In 2011, Ruth moved to Loganville and shared a residence with her brother, Henry. In 2012, she converted to the Mormon faith and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dacula, GA. Miss Cornelius trained at South Highlands Hospital to become a registered nurse, followed by taking a postgraduate course in pediatrics in Washington, D.C. and then to UAB. She served in the United States Army Nurse Corps during World War II from 1942-1946, then spent 30 years in Civil Service Nursing. Her last 20 years, before retiring, was as Supervisor of the Recovery Room in the VA Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She is survived by 2 brothers, Henry D. Cornelius of Loganville and Douglas Cornelius of Center Point, AL, sister, Naomi Harris of Loganville and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10-11am on Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dacula and the funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the church. Burial will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston, AL.
