Sheryl “Sherry” Marie Weed, age 71, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Loganville, Georgia. Born on September 2, 1954, in Roswell, New Mexico, Sherry lived a life filled with creativity, adventure, and a deep love for animals and nature.
Sherry was preceded in Death by her Mother and Father, Betty and Marvin J. Weed. Sherry is survived by sister Debbie Novakovich, brother Thad (Robin) Weed, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, Mindy Gustin(son Douglas), Ashley (George)Kendall (children Cora, Campbell and George), Jeremy (Erin) Novakovich, Heather panizo (son Marcel Anthony) and Justin Panizo.
As a child, Sherry enjoyed drawing, swimming, and playing tennis. Her determination and intelligence allowed her to graduate early from high school, giving her extra time to enjoy driving her cherished orange VW Karmann Ghia—a car lovingly built by her father. Her passion for animals led her to spend time at horse stables, even against her parents’ wishes. On one memorable occasion, an overzealous horse trampled her, resulting in a long hospital stay and extensive physical therapy. Through resilience and strength, Sherry made a full recovery.
In her adult years, Sherry’s career and hobbies reflected her creativity and love for life. She worked for the Atlanta Bar Association before pursuing her passion for jewelry design as a master craftsman and owner of a jewelry store, Gold N’ Gems, in Athens, Georgia. She loved sailing on Lake Lanier with her beloved dog, Tess, and enjoyed international travel throughout Europe, as well as visits to Alaska to spend time with her sister Debbie and family. Later, Sherry continued her professional journey in retail, managing a Wild Birds Unlimited store in Loganville—once again showcasing her love for wildlife.
Sherry was an avid reader, documenting over 1,000 books read during her lifetime. Her curiosity and appreciation for learning were hallmarks of her personality.
A remembrance service will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to an animal welfare or wildlife organization of your choice, honoring Sherry’s lifelong love for animals.
Sherry will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
