

Born in New York City on April 14, 1915, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Annie (Mulligan) Dempsey. She earned a Master’s Degree at Fordham University. She raised her family in Plantsville and touched countless lives over the years.
Agnes was the first Social Worker in the Southington School System where she was employed for over 30 years. She was an active parishioner of St. Thomas church where she taught religious education. Agnes was the school librarian for over 20 years, retiring that position at the age of 92. The St. Thomas School library is now named after her. In the 1960’s she helped start the Head Start Program in Southington which is now the Jump Start Program. Through it all she remained a devoted fan of the NY Mets.
She is survived by her seven children, John Jr. and Rita Kennedy of Southington, James and Mary Kennedy of Goshen, NY, Paul Kennedy of North Easton, MA, Mary and Craig Hietala of Enfield, Joseph and Nancy Kennedy of Somerville, MA, Francis Kennedy of Plainville, CT, Stephen Kennedy of Meriden, 16 grandchildren, Jonathan Kennedy, Garrett Kennedy, Holly Levy, Kevin Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Eric Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Sean Kennedy, Brenda Smartz, Aaron Cramer, Pamela Cramer, Kaitlin Kennedy, Elizabeth Kennedy, Casie Messina, Kelly DelDebbio & Christopher Kennedy , 22 great grandchildren Connor Levy, Nathan Levy, Ashley Kennedy, William Kennedy, Shannon Kennedy, Sarah Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, Mikayla Kennedy, Cameron Kennedy, Mia Kennedy, Julianna Kennedy, Samantha Cramer, Abby Cramer, Carolyn DelDebbio, Jack DelDebbio, Trevor Messina, Mitchell Messina, Dalton Messina, Taylor Messina, Brycen Kennedy, Jocelyn Kennedy & Adelyn Kennedy and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Anne Greenberg, two brothers James and Thomas Dempsey, and a daughter-in-law Barbara (O’Dell) Kennedy.
Funeral will be Saturday August 16, 2014 at 9 AM from DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. in Southington to St. Thomas Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Thomas cemetery.
