

Anne Sciota, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, GiGi, and teacher, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born to the late Salvatore and Mary (O'Brien) Apicello on June 16, 1932, in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Anne was the devoted wife of Michael Sciota Sr. for over 69 years. She was a proud and loving mother to her children: Michael Sciota Jr., Mark Sciota and his wife Karen, and Rosemary Risser and her husband Steven. Anne also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Michael, Amanda, Bailey, Stephen, Maeghan, Nicholas, and Matthew. As well as her five great-grandchildren, Chase, Jackson, Madelyn, Savannah and Jonathan. Additionally, she is survived by a host of extended family members who were dear to her.
A passionate educator, Anne earned her master’s degree in education from Central University. She spent over 14 years teaching at Southington High School, where she was a dedicated and caring presence in the lives of her students. Anne was a two-time nominee for Teacher of the Year and was known for her deep commitment to her students and their success. As class advisor for the Class of 1984, she worked tirelessly to help students navigate their high school years with care and guidance. Active in all student activities, Anne was a positive and nurturing force at Southington High.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Anne will be remembered for her warm heart, sense of humor, and devotion to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured spending time with her loved ones.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday February 12, 2025, at The Church of St. Dominic 1050 Flanders Road Southington at 11 AM. Her family will receive visitors at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington prior to Mass from 8:30 – 10:15 AM. Burial will take place at St. Thomas Cemetery.
