Benoit N. Russell

Born in Waterbury on July 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Phillip and Laura (Deziel) Russell. He grew up in Prospect and raised his family in Wolcott where he has resided for the last 45 years. Ben was a loving spouse, father, grandfather and friend to many. He loved his wife Nancy of 52 years and they enjoyed traveling the world together.

Ben was a retired employee of Waterbury Farrell in Cheshire where he worked for 33 years. He also worked at Waltech in Waterbury for 10 years. He was an active member of the Mattatuck Fife and Drum Corp. in Waterbury, the Farmingbury Men’s Golf Association, and the Waterbury Elks Club. He cherished the time he spent with his wife , friends and family, playing golf, bowling and enjoying his retirement. Ben spent much of his time cheering on the Red Sox, UCONN women’s basketball and whatever sports his grandchildren participated in.

Besides his devoted wife Nancy he leaves a daughter Cheryl Soucy, a son Benoit N. Russell Jr. and his wife Leigh, a daughter Gail Houlihan and her husband Thomas all of Wolcott, brothers Dennis Russell of Southington, Richard Russell of Naugatuck, a sister Pauline McIsaac of Oklahoma, seven grandchildren whom he was very proud of, Melissa and Kara Soucy, Keli and Ben III Russell, Tom, Ryan, and Chelsea Houlihan, several nieces and nephews and special friends Gordy, Casper and Bauer. He was predeceased by sisters Annette Russell, Helen Sargent, Diane Harmon and Aline Conway.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wolcott High School / Golf Team c/o Wolcott High School 457 Boundline Rd. Wolcott, CT 06716

Funeral will be Friday 9 AM from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for a Mass at 10 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.
