It is with deep sadness at our loss and great joy at her release that we inform you that Betty has reached the end of life. Betty was the daughter of Erma and Clark Abbott, the wife of Norton Hinckley and Crayton Goodnough, the mother of Debbie Hinckley and her partner Susan Wagner, David Hinckley and his wife Charlotte, Debby Goodnough Langolier and her husband Mark, Dan Hinckley and his wife Annie, Doreen Goodnough and her partner Jim Hauck, Dickie Hinckley and Missy Hinckley Bellerose and her husband Normand, the grandmother of Wendy, Andrea, Jennifer, Nathan, Kristen and Selena and the great-grandmother of Kyle, Sean, Jade, Vivian, Lily and Mariah.
Betty had a wonderful life filled with family, gardens, baking, laughing and hugging. She deeply loved her first husband, Norton, for over 25 years and then she deeply loved her second husband Crate for over another 25.?After that she said she was not getting married again.. Mom and Crate loved moving! They loved buying homes with potential, fixing them up and then selling them. They say never buy charm - but Mom and Crate sure knew how to sell it! When asked about 2 husbands in heaven she replied with her usual assurance ?There won?t be a problem.?
Betty was a manager at the Aetna when the Aetna was Mother Aetna; when they had Women?s clubs and toast masters and guest speakers with dinner and thought of their employees as family? long ago and far away and she recently commented that she had been retired for as many years as she had worked.
We would be remiss to not mention Mom?s years at Ashlar Village. She loved her wonderful friends Charles, Edna, Roger, Doris, Joyce, George (whom we can?t thank enough for caring for her cat through her illness) and many, many more to numerous to mention. Thank you all for your companionship.
There will be a celebration of Bet?s life at Ashlar Village after the New Year and a Memorial Service in the spring at St Paul?s Episcopal Church in Southington. Betty will always be remembered for her lively conversation, strong opinions, deep faith, loving arms and keen sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, please hug a friend, plant a garden, make muffins for your new neighbor, give a donation to Masonicare Hospice, and last but not least - don?t vote Republican - With our love - Betty?s family.
