Bruno and Elizabeth were married on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1953 and they shared 56 wonderful years together until her passing in 2009. A longtime resident of Southington, Bruno dedicated many years of his career as a manager at Caldor Department Store, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor until the store’s closure.
Bruno was a man of deep faith. He was a devoted communicant of Mary Our Queen Church for many years, and following its closure, he continued his spiritual journey at St. Aloysius Church.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, an experience that remained an important part of his life. Bruno embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He loved bowling, polka and waltz dancing, participating in fashion shows at the New Britain Senior Center, and visiting the casino. A talented musician, he enjoyed playing the harmonica, and he remained active well into his later years, playing softball in a senior league until his late 70s. Bruno was still found bowling and dancing once a week with friends he met over the years.
Bruno will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Linda Iverson and her husband Raymond; his grandchildren, Jason Archibald and his fiancé Emma Plourde, Heather O’Brien and her husband Joe, and Christopher Iverson and his wife Kate; and his three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Rachel Iverson and Nathan Archibald.
