Born August 7, 1952 in Southington he was the son of the late Francis and Ida (Slezak) Banjock.
David was a communicant of Immaculate conception Church where he became an altar server. He was also a graduate of Southington High School and was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan. David?s fond joys were his love of music, composing some of his own style melodies oh his guitar and onto tapes. He had a love and enthusiasm for hiking the mountains of Connecticut, MA, and PA. His final mountain challenge (and surly the most difficult) was his affliction with Huntington?s Disease for many years.
Finally, the words inscribed on the Banjock headstone: ?.Home, safe home, Home are the hikers, Home from the hills?. Are all celebrated today by all three Banjock hikers. Our deep gratitude to the multitude of compassionate care givers and staff who ministered to David all these years; first at Brook Hollow of Wallingford, then Sterling Manor in East Hartford and in the last few months at Bloomfield Healthcare Center. A very, very special and everlasting Thanks to friend Judy Greene of Southington and SC, who was ?always there? in whatever situation for David and his mother Ida, Judy having lost her son to Huntington?s also.
He is survived by an aunt, Sr. Marian Slezak, Sisters of Mercy of Meriden and several cousins throughout CT, MA and PA. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Southington. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the; UCONN Health Center, Huntington Disease Program, 263 Farmington Ave., Dowling North-2nd Fl., Farmington, CT 06030.
