

He was born in Waterbury on April 20, 1950, the son of the late Domenic and Shirley (Ray) Lombardo .
He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl (Rosa) Lombardo and blessed throughout his life with many, many special friends.
Lombardo worked for the State of Connecticut Judicial Division of the State Government for 10 years. He was a member of the Southington Police Department for 26 years, retiring as Captain in 2002. He was responsible for introducing the first computers into the police department in 1985.
Mr. Lombardo graduated from Crosby High School, Tunxis Community College with a AS in Police Administration, University of New Haven with a BS in Security Management and the University of Hartford (MPA) Barney School of Business.
Lombardo was well known throughout the local area as an avid sports official. He attended the Major League Baseball Development Program and spent one year in minor league. He umpired baseball in the greater Waterbury area. He was a member of the Western CT Football Officials Assoc., the New Haven Football Officials Assoc. and the Eastern College Athletic Conference football official's staff. He was one of the first members of the Big East Conference Football officiating staff as an Instant Replay official and had the distinction of being assigned to numerous Bowl games (Huston, Outback, Rose, New Orleans, Army-Navy Game and Cotton).
He was past president of the Southington Chapter of UNICO National and a member of the Board of Directors of ARC of Southington and the YMCA.
Later in life Domenic began pursuing a theatrical career, playing the lead roles of Don Vito Borleone in the Godfathers' Meshuggener Wedding and Tony Soprano, as part of the tri-state area productions of New York Dinner Theater. His ability to get people to laugh and have a good time were his greatest rewards in life. He was happiest when surrounded by close friends. He was an avid golfer and member of the Wallingford Country Club, where he served on the Board of Governors as Treasurer and President.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St. Plantsville at 10:30 am for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
