

Dominic L. Giordano Sr., 97, of Plantsville, beloved husband of Edith (Angelillo) Giordano, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Midstate Medical Center surrounded by his family. Dominic was born in Branford on March 10, 1925 and was the son of the late Generoso and Margherita (D’Auria) Giordano. After his high school graduation, Dominic enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed on the USS Palisades. A proud member of “The Greatest Generation”, Dominic served his country from 1943 to 1946. In 1958, he married his lovely wife Edith and were together for over 64 years. Dominic retired from the International Silver Company. However, retirement did not slow Dominic down. He could be found working in his garden, outdoor activities with his granddaughters, cheering on his UCONN Women’s Basketball Team, watching the daily Mass and babysitting Brittany and Ashley, his cherished granddaughters. He and Edith loved to travel to places which include, Disney, Hawaii, Prince Edward Island and the Canadian Rockies. He also loved hosting holiday gatherings with his family. He was also a faithful parishioner of ST. Aloysius Church. Besides his wife Edith, Dominic is survived by his two children; Dominic L. Giordano Jr. of Southington and Lisa Splain and her husband Steven of Cheshire. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters, Brittany Splain of New York and Ashley Splain of Baltimore and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his five brothers, Tony, Frank, Louie, Tom, and Jerry and by his sister, Marie (Rose) Salzano. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Aloysuius Church, 254 Burritt St, Plantsville, CT 06479. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to the mass from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dominic’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
