
Dorothy Elizabeth Nelson Beadle, 86, of Southington, in the presences of her loving family, was called home on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Hospital of Central CT, Bradley Memorial Campus. Born July 7, 1922 in South Woodstock, CT, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Johnston) and Martin A. Nelson.
She graduated from Woodstock Academy and attended College in Boston and worked as a medical technician in the Boston area. She married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Wallace Beadle, in 1945 and moved to Waterbury to raise her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waterbury. In later years, she worked in the purchasing Department at Heritage Village in Southbury and as a home health aide until her retirement, making numerous good friends alone the way. If she called you her friend, it was for a lifetime.
She attended First Congregational Church until her health declined. She is survived by her three daughters and their families; Carolyn and Barbara Beadle, with whom she made her home and Sharyn and Hank Pliska, all of Southington. Her grandchildren are Lisa and Dean Olsen, Karen and Brian Bradshaw, Michelle and Michael Konopka, all of Southington and Erik and Amy Raymond of Copake Falls, NY. Her seven great granddaughters that were her pride and joy and will greatly miss their Nana are Hannah and Kate Olsen, Paige and Emma Raymond, Sydney and Allison Bradshaw Abbygale Konopka and a foster great-grandson, Brian Robles. She is also survived by a cousin, David Johnston of Plymouth and a niece, Jean Beadle of Aberdeen, NC, friends Eleanor Strand of South Woodstock, Barbara Zastaury of Prospect and Allie Lowe of FL. She was predeceased by her best friend Alice Irwin.
Her family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Craig Bogdanski and the staff at Bradley Memorial for the excellent care she received while she was there.
There will be a memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St. Southington on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St. Southington, CT 06489 or the charity of one choice. Burial will be at Quasset Cemetery in Woodstock at the convenience of the family. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is in charge of arrangements.
