

Born November 2, 1937 in New Britain a daughter of the late James and Veronica (Cordes) Steenhoff.
She was formerly employed by Stone Haven, the Corner House, Precision Dynamics and Lindquist Insurance.
Dorothy was known for her generous spirit and selfless devotion to her family and friends. She was very active with the Southington Assoc. for Retarded Citizens.
She had many interests especially a love of the arts. She was an accomplished painter and loved music, movies theater, gardening and nature. She was a longtime fan of the NY Yankees and UCONN Basketball.
Besides her husband of 56 years she is survived by her children, Michele and husband Steve Tyz of Plantsville, Lori Sullivan of Bristol and Charles Lamont of Berlin; three beloved granddaughters, Abby and Veronica Sullivan and Zoe Tyz; a brother Fred Steenhoff of Lima, NY; close friends Kathy Lockery, Nilda Rose and Nicole Sullivan along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Ken and Robert Steenhoff and a special friend Rita Steenhoff.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 12:15 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CCARC, 251 Osgood Ave., New Britain, CT 06053 or the American Cancer Society, 825 Brooks St., I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
