

Eleanor Teresa (Bessette) DePaola, 87, of Plantsville, beloved wife of the late Nicholas DePaola, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 29 at Windsor Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut December 12, 1937, to Lucien and Josephine (Sullivan) Bessette. She is predeceased by her sister-in-law Dorothy Bessette, and leaves her son Robert DePaola, his partner Michael D'Occhio, her brother Jay Bessette and many nieces and nephews.
A Western Connecticut University graduate in education, she taught elementary school in Southington, retiring in 2004. Along with her late husband, she was a founding member of St. Aloysius Church, Plantsville, founding member and past president of the church Ladies Guild, visiting minister of the Eucharist, lector, and catechism instructor.
She and her late husband Nick owned and operated the former Towne Dry Cleaners in Southington for over thirty years.
The family would like to thank the staff of Windsor Health and Rehabilitation for their kind care and compassion to Eleanor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St. Hartford. There will be no calling hours. All who wish to attend Mass are asked to gather directly at church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church at the address above.
