

Born Jan. 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Emilo and Julia Forte.
She received a BA degree from the University of Bridgeport and a MALS degree from Wesleyan University. She taught English for several years at Platt High School and later became a social worker with the State of CT Dept. of Human Resources in Middletown until her retirement in 1989, after which she worked part-time at the Bradley Home in Meriden until 1994. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Meriden.
Emily was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and good friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Emily always put the needs of others before her own.
She was interested in world affairs. Her favorite activities included playing bridge, quilting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband Don, she is survived by one daughter Kimberly and her husband David Swanson of Southington; two sons: Keith Looney and his wife Elsa of Glenmont, NY: and Kent Looney and his wife Karen of Maryville, TN; and seven grandchildren: David, Brett, Emily, Emilio, Maya, Elyssa, and Elannah. In addition, she leaves a brother-in-law James Looney and his wife Claudette of Webster, NY and a niece Angela Jones, her husband John, several grand nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. at 10:30 a.m. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one?s choice.
