I was so sorry to hear about Ernie.  I was forever grateful to grow up  with Ernie on  East St.  I met him when I was 10 years old. A year younger than Ernie.  The formative years were very special.  It was a amazing group among the Burkhardt, Wallace, Wrinn, and Daley families. Afternoon's after school playing any sport we could think of and the amazing evenings we would spend, particularly with music.  Ernie loved to play his guitar and he introduced us to so many types of music.  Southern rock is my favorite....all thanks to Ernie.  He was absolute pleasure to hang out with and have so many varied conversations as we all navigated the teen years.  Always a gentleman....he will be missed.  RIP and thanks for the many cherished memories.   

I was shocked to have heard of Ernie's passing. My deepest sympathies and prayers for comfort for his family, especially Heather, and for his dear friends. We had worked together for 11 years in Barrington. A lot of time has passed but memories remain. God bless you all.......

I was another art teacher who taught in the same wing at York HS with Ernie. I enjoyed working with him so much. He always had a smile on his face and a great personality with both students and staff, as well as a good sense of humor. I was so sorry to hear of his passing and will miss him a lot. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and close friends.

My deepest sympathy to Heather, Linda and family. I taught next door to Ernie at York High School. He was a wonderful person who was loved by his students. He will be missed by the YHS community.

Ernie was one of my closest friends and colleagues working with him at both the Barrington Middle School and the Cape Neddick Campground. I have numerous fond memories of good times  we shared  over the many years of our friendship. His loss leaves me deeply saddened and shocked. He loved and spoke of his family often and I share the profound grief that you are experiencing.  Please accept my sincere sympathy. Peace and love to you all....  

Ernie was such a good friend, a good teacher (and substitute teacher), and a good man.  I'm so sad to hear of his passing.   

We met as colleagues at YHS, but we remained friends to the end.  I will always remember his awesome laugh and the animated way that he told a story.  

My sincere sympathy for Heather and all the members of Ernie's family.  Condolences to Linda and all of Ernie's countless friends.   Hang on to the memories and lessons that he taught you and he will remain with you forever.

Ernie was my right hand man when we needed to cover art classes, and he was always my go-to sub. I will always be grateful for knowing him. Kids loved him and the staff did too. We’d spend hours complaining about the Red Sox. He had a great heart and quick wit.
