Southington, CT - Evelyn "Lynn" Fairchild, 54, of Shawnee Kansas, formerly of Newington, CT passed away unexpectedly from a brief illness while vacationing in Connecticut on Sunday, July 23, 2006, surrounded by family and friends. Lynn was born and raised in Newington, a daughter of the late Walter Deane and Evelyn (Burke) Fairchild. She graduated from Newington High School in 1970 and attended Keene State and Southern Connecticut State College where she obtained a Bachelors Degree and a Masters of Science in Speech Pathology. It was a field that suited her personality, for Lynn was always drawn to the under privileged and disabled children. In her spirited and driven way, she searched for the inherent strength and potential that people, no matter how compromised, possessed within. It was that personal courage and strength that has been and will continue to be an inspiration to her friends and family. Above all Lynn was a loving and dedicated mom and would do anything for her two sons, Mathew and Michael whom she was so very proud of.
Lynn possessed an extraordinary sense of humor, wit and a love of the quirky and random. Her smile could light up a room and her laugh could turn even the gloomiest of days around. Stories of her walks in Shawnee Mission Dog Park abound, as it was a place that combined her love of nature, friends and animals.
Lynn leaves behind her sons, Matthew LaVoie of Prairie Village, KS, and Michael LaVoie and his long-term girlfriend Annie Rotenberg of Cleveland, OH, her sisters, Nancy Fairchild of Watertown, MA, Diane Volz and her husband Gary and son Deane, a brother, Richard Fairchild and Judith King all of Southington, CT, Richard?s children, Eric Fairchild of Agawam, MA and Amy Fairchild of Seattle, WA, children of Marabeth Grogan, of Old Saybrook, CT, Dear friends Betty "E.A" and John Fortunato and Joyce Muisener were also by her side. She also leaves behind her beloved animals, Chip, Scout, Kato and Garfield.
