

Scituate, MA.- Florence (Tone) Hennessey, 88, left this life on May 8, 2009 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Noel Hennessey. Born in Meriden, CT on Sept. 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Florence (Zeitler) Tone.
She attended schools in New Haven and Hartford, graduating from Weaver High School in 1938. Florence was an LPN at Newington Children?s Hospital and while there, met her future husband Noel, an orthotist on staff. After their marriage, she left the hospital and her family became the center of her life. She focused on her seven children, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. She and Noel were proud that all seven were college graduates. Her other interests included playing the piano and listening to music, doing crafts and reading.
She is survived by her six remaining children: Dr. Thomas Hennessey and his wife Mary Kay of Fayetteville, NC, Kathleen McCormack and her husband Richard of Scituate, MA, Richard Hennessey and his wife Anne of Plantsville, CT, Mary Ellen Gerardi of New Britain, CT, Alice Henley and her husband James of Dexter, NY, and Carl Hennessey of Plainville, CT,
sisters Natalie Dwyer of TX and Shirley Moore and her husband Robert of AZ, a brother Joseph and his wife Mary of AL; her eight grandchildren, Sister Sarah Hennessey F.S.P.A., Eleanor Katari, Joseph Hennessey, Kristen Casey, Daniel McCormack, Brian Hennessey, Colin Hennessey, Maureen Hennessey, two great grandchildren, Aidan McCormack and Pria Katari, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Elizabeth Hennessey.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Life Care Center of the South Shore and the Norwell VNA Hospice for the extraordinary care they provided to Florence during her illness.
The Funeral will be held Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Dominic Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery in New Britain. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home between 4-8 p.m. Monday.
