
Southington-George August Taylor, born 10/29/19, beloved husband for 65 years of Eleanor (Raymond) Taylor, died Saturday, 9/9/06 of Alzheimer's disease. Born in West Hoboken, NJ (now Union City), to Edgar and Elizabeth (Reichmeyer) Taylor, he moved to East Hartford in 1921. After his marriage to Eleanor in 1941, they moved to West Hartford. He served in the US Navy from 1944-1946, serving aboard the USS Anthedon AS-24, a submarine tender, stationed in the South Pacific. He was employed for 17 years with the New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad, then 21 years with First National Stores frozen food distribution in East Hartford. He then worked for Parsons Industrial Diamond Products in West Hartford as a tool maker, until his retirement in 1984. In 1994, he moved to Southington. George was an avid golfer, and loved jokes and good stories. He was an accomplished woodworker, making furniture and accessories, all by hand. He had a great interest in history, particularly the Civil War. He especially loved music and singing, and was known for his great voice. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Claudia and Ralph Peruch of Roseville, CA, Deborah and Donald Hallin of Plainville, Janet and James Adamowicz of Plantsville, 7 grandchildren, Thomas and Rachel Peruch, Scott Peruch and his fiance Patricia, David and Michelle Peruch, Marc and Jessica Hallin, Catherine and Christian Michaud, Robin and Daniel Adamowicz and 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his brother-in-law, Roland Raymond. He was predeceased by 3 brothers Edgar, James and Frank Taylor, and 3 sisters, Helen Reese, Bertha Mobsby and Mildred
O'Shea.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Farmington Health Care , for their kindness and patience in caring for George.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is assisting with arrangements.
