
Southington - Gerald Bisson, 85, of Southington and formerly of New Britain passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the HCC at Bradley Memorial. He was the beloved husband of Muriel Ring Bisson and were married for 63 years.
Born May 25, 1922 in Lewiston, ME, a son of the late Alphonse and Jeanne (DeRocher) Bisson.
Gerald was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army, he received many medals including the Silver Star. He was the Service Director for Lee Chevrolet for many years until his retirement and was a member of the American Legion Post 72.
In addition to his wife he leaves seven children, two sons Ronald Bisson and his wife Debra Oaks and Alan Bisson, five daughters Janice Bertolo and her husband Robert, Carol Dawiczyk and her husband George, Gail Angeletti and her husband Ralph, Doreen Bisson and Bonnie Misiorski and her husband David; one brother Lucien Bisson; five sisters, Murielle Belanger, Yevette LaMontague, Irene Plorde, Lucille Reny and Jeanette Joncas; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two loving sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. He was predeceased by a grandson Damon Bertolo.
His greatest joy was his family gatherings and watching all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 9:15 a.m from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, to St. Thomas Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 45 Ash St., E.
