James F. Flynn

Born in Waterbury to the late Edward G. Flynn and Margaret (Broder) Flynn, Jim was graduated from Leavenworth High School and the University of Hartford. He enlisted in the United States Army where he was an acting Sergeant in the 28th Division, Company B, 103rd Combat Engineers with Occupation Forces in Germany.

Jim spent 37 years working with IBM. He spent many years serving the Town of Wolcott in various elected and appointed positions including the Town Council, as Chairman of the Board of Tax Review, the Parks and Recreation Committee, the Industrial Development Commission, the Conservation Committee, and as Constable. He proudly served on the Republican Town Committee for more than 40 years. In addition, he spent time serving as a Jaycee, a Boy Scout Leader, a VFW member, and as Chairman of the Drug Help Committee assisting those with drug dependency issues.

He is survived by RoseMary (McWeeney) Flynn, his wife of 52 years; his sister, Margaret M. Sugden; his special cousin, Josephine Fenn; his son, James F. Flynn, Jr. and his wife Carol Lutsky Flynn of Mashpee, MA; his son, Thomas M. Flynn and his wife Amelia Emmons Flynn, of Fairfield, CT; and his cherished grandchildren Meghan Kate Flynn, Thomas John Flynn, and Ryan James Flynn, all of Fairfield, CT. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his brother, Edward J. Flynn and his wife Phyllis Robertson Flynn; his brothers in law, Francis M. McWeeney and his wife Eleanor Baker McWeeney; Rev. John W. McWeeney, M.S.; Charles T. McWeeney; Richard J. Sugden; and his sister in law Catherine M. Phelan.

Funeral will be Thursday, March 8 at 10:15 a.m. processing from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Friends may call at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
